120 kW natural gas fueled co-generator;
30 kW gas fueled micro-turbine;
50 kWp Photovoltaic plant;
180 kWh electrochemical storage system composed by two Sodium-Nichel battery banks for a total storage capacity of 180 kWh and a maximum discharge power of 60 kW:
60 kVA wind turbine emulator; 200 kVA by-pass inverter; 2x150 kVA programmable loads; 1250 kVA MV/LV transformer; open and flexible SCADA system.

Development, experimentation and testing of devices and components for smart grid applications;
Validation of operation strategies and control methodologies in stand-alone and in parallel with the utility grid;
Development of advanced control techniques for local distributed energy sources for the secure, economic and reliable operation of the microgrid;
Development of real-time algorithms for optimally managing the charging/discharging battery energy storage systems for peak shaving and valley filling in the short-, mid- and long-term;
Experiments for validating advanced controllers aimed at saving energies and optimize operating costs for both grid-connected and isolated mode;
Investigation, development and validation of the operation, control, protection, safety and telecommunication infrastructure of microgrids;
Dynamic assessment and control of microgrids.
