Research Activities

The purpose of the laboratory is the study, enhancement and dissemination of scientific research carried out with several Italian and international partners, both private and public.
Each year, the laboratory hosts foreign students and researchers, organizes seminars and conferences.
It hosts the spin-off Automation in Logistics and Service Systems, s.r.l., a spin-off company founded in 2013 and supported by the Polytechnic of Bari.
Modeling, management and control of complex systems: manufacturing systems, Intelligent transportation systems, Connected Cooperative and Automated Mobility, modal and multi-modal logistics systems, transport of dangerous goods; management of electric mobility, Smart Cities and Smart building.
Smartness and Decision Support Systems: Artificial Intelligence algorithms and applications of ICT skilled at predicting and solving upcoming situations and in different contexts (transportation, logistics, production, healthcare systems) with minimal or reduced human intervention, scheduling problems and planning, workflow management; models to maximize the effectiveness of technological products and processes, methods for the reduction of alternatives and choices.

Distributed optimization algorithms and consensus
Resource allocation in systems composed of heterogeneous agents, assignment problems in distributed networks with communication constraints, fault detection and identification of discrete event systems, consensus algorithms.
